According to The Globe and Mail, PM Harper is thinking about forcing an election this fall. Bring it on! This parliament has become dysfunctional, nothing was getting passed this spring, and all the Liberals did was blab about some fake government scandal. With Dion and the Liberals digging themselves into a big hole over the Green 'Shaft' tax grab, with candidates bailing on them, and with virtually no money coming in from individual contributors, it looks like they will face a "bloodbath" similar to the one New Labour experienced last spring.
With a conservative majority (let's hope), the Liberals will be thrown into a leadership crisis. Also, with the Conservative Convention in November, some true conservative principles can be adopted by the party - ahhh the hidden agenda! With a strong mandate and a leaderless and bankrupt Liberal Party, the Conservatives will not face any serious opposition if any true right wing policies are adopted. I can't wait! You better be ready Dion cause the election you've been wanting since you became leader is right around the corner!

Interesting article , and the comments on the web site are enlightening .
If Harper's guys are watching things in the UK as a barometer for Canada , I think they may try to orchestrate a defeat in the fall , leaving Dion to run on a losing "green" platform at a time when the environment takes a back seat to taxes , food and energy etc.

Interesting point, in Britian the economy is the main issue, no one really cares that much about the green stuff anymore, I only hope that it will be the same story here in Canada - Dion might find himeself in the same situation as John Tory last year...
MichaelCC, no sir. With Dion's Green Shaft he will have people lap that up, especially in the big cities like Toronto.
With John Tory he lost by trying to be fair, and principled. Stephane Dion may win by scamming us.
I don't know what else the Conservatives can do to force an election. They have tried every way possible, short of crossing the floor and slapping Dion in the face, and I don't think it will be any different this time around.
The Conservatives will make everything a confidence vote and the Liberals will sit on their hands and resort to their usual name calling.
The Nutty Professor has seen his green shaft stir up as much public interest as a grass watching contest and that was what he was pinning his hopes on. The Liberals have no money, no platform, and a leader who is about as popular as a skunk ata garden party.
We are all in for another session of Liberal huffing & puffing, phoney 'smear the government committes, and nothing getting accomplished.
Being the government, the CPC doesn't have to 'force' an election, they can call one. It is the Gliberals who have to 'force' an election, and it seems they won't because they are gutless weenies. I know why the Fiberals and their media stooges lay this falsehood on Steven Harper, I just don't understand why so-called 'Tories' do.
Prime Minister Harper has stated on numerous occasions that he would like his government to go the full term. Every day he stays in power he looks better and Dionne looks worse, why on earth wouldn't he want to complete the full four years?
